Students in biology class.

149 girls and 205 boys will have an improved educational experience through the creation of a hybrid classroom equipped with microscopes, chemical sets, projector, and SMARTboard. Outdated equipment and inadequate learning conditions are replaced with new and suitable modern educational technologies that will tap students' relevant abilities, personal qualities, spectrum of interests, and different learning styles, so they can reach their fullest cognitive potential in a safe, well-equipped, and favorable educational milieu. As a result, the beneficiaries will be immersed in a well-rounded educational experience offering a 50% increase in hands-on experiments and simulations, pique their interest in pursuing STEM careers while highlighting the importance of gender equity and rights to decide on a career as a girl through career counseling sessions provided by STEM teachers, all while becoming competitive digital citizens. This project also aids teachers to develop professional digital competencies, widen teaching methodologies, and fulfill and supplement the current curricular standards set by the Ministry of Education. The school administration supports strongly the objectives of this project and has pledged its financial and in-kind contributions by installing a water pipe and a sewerage system, installing the projector and SMARTboard, refurbishing desks suitable for wet and dry experiments, and assuming administrative costs and current repairs. The long-term impact of the project on girls is creating equitable opportunities aimed at improving their digital skills, knowledge and technical know-how in the fields of STEM; allowing them to compete competitively and equitably with boys at the local and municipal STEM competitions.

This project has been designed to expand access to education for girls in Moldova as part of the Let Girls Learn Program. Learn more at letgirlslearn.peacecorps.gov.

Your contribution increases the impact of Mr. Bugayong, his fellow Peace Corps Volunteers, and their communities; and makes a brighter future possible for young women in Moldova.
