The Northern Girls Leading Our World (GLOW) and Boys Respecting Others (BRO) youth development camp will provide a safe environment for youth to learn about themselves, to build self-confidence, and to gain leadership skills that will allow them to excel in the classroom and become leaders in their communities. This camp is a 6-day intensive youth conference for 20 boys and 40 girls, ages 12-17 years, including nine hearing-impaired students. The camp will focus on topics such as gender empowerment, nutrition, sexual health, agriculture education, and deaf education. We hope to empower youth to become leaders and educators within their communities and potential leaders in future GLOW/BRO camps. The community hosting the conference will provide accommodation, as well as sign language translators and peer camp facilitators to assist with sessions and activities.

Seventeen PCVs will participate in the camp. Nine will be selected to be group leaders. They will stay the duration of the camp and lead small group discussions with the students. The remaining six will come in and help with some presentations or lead demonstrations. There will also be 9 student mentors who have participated in one of the previous camps. The student mentors participation will extend to young adults (18+ years) or counterparts from PCV communities. These individuals are Senior High School or just post Junior High School graduates and will be coming from the same communities as the students. The mentors will work with the PCV and the students post-camp to continue discussions and help guide the students to bettering their future.
