The purpose of Camp GLOW/BROS is to encourage and empower youth to become active citizens by building their self-esteem and confidence, increasing their self-awareness, goal setting, assertiveness, and career and life planning. By focusing on these topics, youth will have an increased sense of control over their own circumstances and the tools necessary to make informed decisions, which will enable them to achieve their goals in life.

GLOW/BROS Trang is a 4-day camp for 70 youth aged 11-14 throughout Southern Thailand. Youth will engage in activities that teach them about: assessing their strengths and weaknesses, peer pressure, self-respect, leadership, volunteerism, career planning and goals, gender based violence, and gender and sex. For many students, this may be their first opportunity to learn about such issues and think about them in depth.

Lessons will be facilitated Peace Corps Volunteers and their Thai counterparts. This camp also gives Thai teachers valuable skills in addressing issues that they do not normally have an opportunity to teach. Students and teachers will be given the opportunity to plan for a club to host in their communities upon returning from the camp so that they may reach more students and have a long-term impact beyond the camp.

Youth who attend will also meet students from many diverse communities across Southern Thailand and be exposed to those that are different from them. This is a unique opportunity that builds on both soft and hard skills and will impact Thai youth during their formative years.
