It is necessary to procure 16 microscopes and accesories in order to have modern and effective Biology classes. This will be one microscope per desk, which will increase students' interest in STEM learning. Each desk pair will be made of a girl and a boy.

Through this project we will create opportunities for girls to participate equally with boys, demonstrating their ability to work with scientific lab equipment. This will increase girls' interest in science, which is our overarching goal.

The community will contribute in the following ways: Donated consultation around using microscopes and first aid for lab accidents, first aid supplies, whiteboard and secure storage for equipment, refreshments for grand opening, inspirational speeches by women in science, a mural in school that shows both boys and girls utilizing microscopes and lab equipment, transportation of purchased materials, research and publishing of educational materials that normalize women in STEM.

This project has been designed to expand access to education for girls in Moldova as part of the Let Girls Learn Program. Learn more at letgirlslearn.peacecorps.gov.

Your contribution increases the impact of Ms. Lehman, her fellow Peace Corps Volunteers, and their communities; and makes a brighter future possible for young women in Moldova.
